5-Axis CNC Machining
As robotic systems continue to evolve, component complexity is increasing rapidly. Lightweight structures, compact assemblies, and tighter tolerance requirements demand manufacturing processes capable of producing highly accurate parts with exceptional consistency.
For components requiring machining on multiple faces, maintaining positional accuracy between critical features becomes essential. Even small deviations can accumulate during assembly, affecting alignment, motion accuracy, and overall system performance.
At YS Precision, we provide 5-axis CNC machining services for complex aluminum components, helping customers manufacture precision parts for robotics, automation, medical devices, aerospace, and advanced industrial equipment.

This project involved manufacturing 50 aluminum robotic components for an overseas customer developing precision automation equipment.
The component incorporated multiple machined surfaces, precision holes, mounting interfaces, and reference features located on different planes.
While the dimensional tolerances of individual features were demanding, the greater challenge lay in maintaining the positional relationship between every machined surface throughout the manufacturing process.
For robotic assemblies, dimensional consistency is more than a quality requirement—it directly influences assembly efficiency, repeatability, and long-term operational stability.
Many complex parts can technically be produced using conventional 3-axis machining.
However, every additional setup introduces the possibility of slight positioning errors. While these deviations may appear insignificant individually, they can accumulate across multiple machining operations and ultimately affect the final assembly.
For this project, our engineering team selected 5-axis CNC machining to minimize cumulative positioning errors and improve overall manufacturing consistency.
The optimized machining strategy allowed multiple faces of the component to be completed in significantly fewer setups, ensuring accurate relationships between critical features while reducing production risk.
Every successful machining project begins with process planning rather than machine operation.
Before production, our engineers carefully reviewed the customer's drawings, analyzed datum structures, and developed a machining sequence designed to maximize dimensional stability.
The manufacturing workflow included:
Rather than focusing solely on machining efficiency, our objective was to create a stable, repeatable manufacturing process capable of producing consistent results across the entire batch.
For robotic applications, machining accuracy extends beyond individual dimensions.
Critical factors include:
These characteristics ensure that parts fit together correctly during assembly and continue to perform reliably in service.
The project was completed successfully, with all 50 aluminum components delivered to the customer on schedule.
The finished parts achieved:
The customer successfully integrated the components into their robotic system and proceeded with subsequent product validation.
