Optical and inspection equipment requires mechanical housings with accurate mounting interfaces, stable dimensions, and reliable structural support for sensitive internal components.
This project involved manufacturing a custom CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum optical housing based on the customer's 2D drawings and 3D CAD model.
The housing features a large circular mounting interface, precision locating holes, and customized machined surfaces designed for integration with optical equipment assemblies.
Manufactured from 6061-T6 aluminum, the part achieved critical hole accuracy within ±0.05 mm.
The finished housing has an approximate size of 340 × 300 mm. Around 45 pieces were produced and exported to Israel within a two-week production schedule, including material preparation, CNC machining, inspection, and clear anodizing.

Optical equipment housings are different from standard protective covers.
The mechanical structure must provide:
For this housing, CNC machining was selected because the design required customized features that are difficult to achieve with standard fabrication methods.
The machining process created:
These details help maintain the correct relationship between the housing and internal optical components.
6061-T6 aluminum is widely used for precision equipment parts because it provides a good balance of:
For optical and inspection equipment, material stability is important because dimensional changes can influence the positioning of internal components.
The CNC machining process was controlled to maintain:
The most important feature of this housing is the central circular mounting structure.
The circular interface and surrounding precision holes provide a controlled mounting reference for equipment assembly.
During manufacturing, attention was given to:
For optical systems, these mechanical interfaces directly influence the repeatability of component installation.
The customer selected:
Clear Anodizing (Natural Anodizing)
without sand blasting.
This finishing method maintains the natural CNC-machined aluminum appearance while providing:
Because optical equipment often requires a professional appearance, anodizing consistency was controlled across the production batch.
This project required approximately 45 pieces with completion within two weeks.
The manufacturing process included:
Fast turnaround for precision aluminum housings requires coordination between machining and surface finishing processes.
This type of low-volume CNC manufacturing is commonly required for:
The housing was produced according to customer-provided:
Manufacturing considerations included:
This ensures the finished aluminum housing matches the customer's optical equipment design.
For optical equipment parts, both dimensional accuracy and surface quality are important.
Inspection includes:
After anodizing, finished housings were carefully packaged to prevent surface damage during international transportation.
Optical equipment manufacturers often require customized mechanical housings rather than standard enclosure products.
YS Precision supports the production of:
From aluminum machining to surface finishing, the focus is on producing stable and accurate mechanical parts based on customer engineering requirements.
